I have been having the oddest reaction to news of friends’ and colleagues’ latest pregnancies: hostility.
I love my two wonderful urchins beyond belief, and honestly think that I could do no better if Daniel & I were to procreate once more. So why this reaction steeped in jealousy and irritation?

We came back from Door County to find Jemima huddled in the preferred nest box, all poofed out and uttering a continuous stream of low “buk-buk-buk-buk-buk”s. And that particular warbling noise when you reach under her feathers to check for eggs which can only mean: The Girl’s Gone Broody.

The olive groves of Greece are burning.
During our two week sojourn in Spain, we consumed at least 2 one-liter bottles of olive oil. The cooking yardstick we measured our meals by was the use of at least 1/2 cup of olive oil per dish.
