Today I saw for the first time an automobile advertisement which prominently featured the vehicle in question’s gas mileage.
(Can’t remember the brand, model or anything about the car other than the posted mileage: 33mpg)
It’s been a loooong time since cars were marketed based on their fuel efficiency. Since before I began to drive, in fact. And the depressing thing? That fuel efficiency has not improved in all that time. I remember advertisements in the 1970’s which featured cars with gas mileages of 30 city/35 highway. And here we are again, having gained nothing, having learned nothing. Even hybrids can’t boast much beyond 40 mpg.
I’ve been riding my bike a lot. My fuel efficiency is pretty good: takes me two bagels with peanut butter and a cup of coffee to make it to work.
Way more fun to put that kind of fuel in the tank too!!
My hybrid gets a *lot* more than 40 mpg.
When there is gas in the tank.
