Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama, the committee’s leading Republican, said just before the vote that he was compelled to oppose the nomination because of [Sotomayor's] “liberal, pro-government ideology.”
Apparently, Senator Sessions would rather have anti-government judges on the Supreme Court – WHICH IS A BRANCH OF GOVERNMENT.
Sheesh.
