Sunken boats freak me out. I don’t know why, but seeing a boat underwater, or partially underwater unnerves me terribly.
I don’t mind being on boats – in fact, I find it rather enjoyable. I’m not consumed with fear that the vessel may suddenly sink while I’m on it.
But when I see an object that should be afloat underneath the surface of the water, I get the heebie-jeebies. Doesn’t matter if its been submerged for a few days or many years, it just makes me – dare I say it – seasick.
Maybe it’s a “Jaws” thing?
I’ll counter that with my irrational fear: heavy wind. Even if I’m standing on level ground with no danger of being blown into a chasm, strong, buffeting wind makes me uneasy!
I never saw Jaws, so I don’t think that’s it. Maybe Das Boat?
You’re not alone; I’m a little unnerved by sunken/sinking boats, too.
Never saw “Jaws”?! Okay…. scratch one theory.
